Marcie & Jerry Saywell are the proprietors of Saywell’s.
Marcie, a potter, and Jerry, a refugee from the corporate world,
opened Saywell’s Gallery in Wakefield, Rhode
Island, on April Fool’s Day, 1987. We have been open for business
on Wakefield’s Main Street since that day, and moved into
the historic Kenyon’s Department Store Building in 2003.
Wakefield is one of the 14 villages which make up the town of South
Kingstown, Rhode Island. We are on the west side of Narragansett
Bay, across from Newport; in an area we natives call South County.
A very special part of the planet, South County offers fine beaches,
golf, equestrian activities, galleries, museums, live theater, classical
music festivals, art fairs, seafood festivals, nature conservancies
– just about all you could ask for to provide a great place
to live, work and visit. Kingston, one of our other South Kingstown
villages, is home to the University of Rhode Island.
Since opening, we have been fortunate to develop a loyal following
of customers who appreciate the quality of craftsmanship in the
products of the hundreds of artisans we represent. We hope this
website adds to the convenience of being a valued friend and customer.
The items we present to you on our website are either limited production
or One-of-a-Kind pieces. The limited production pieces may vary
somewhat from the image shown; they show the touch of the human
hand. One-of-a-Kind pieces shown are exactly the item you will receive
when purchasing. |
